The Validation Playbook

Start Here

What this playbook is, who it is for, and how the IDEAL framework turns guesswork into evidence-backed decisions.

The core problem this playbook solves

Most founders do not fail from lack of effort. They fail from the wrong kind of effort: building before proof. This playbook replaces guesswork with evidence so you build the right idea -- not just the exciting one.

The Validation Playbook is a story-driven guide for early-stage founders who want conviction without hype. It teaches a practical method for finding real pain, testing the riskiest assumptions first, and earning commitment before building anything heavy.

This book does not promise guaranteed outcomes. It gives you a repeatable way to increase your odds and build around proof instead of hope.

Many ideas narrow to one decision -- each step demands more evidence.

Find one worth your time

Begin with observation, not invention. Let the evidence guide you.

The IDEAL Framework

The playbook is built around five stages. Each stage has a distinct purpose, a specific activity, and a gate you must pass before moving on.

IStage 1: IdentifyIs the pain real? -- Friction Scan, Truth Interviews, Buyer Definition
DStage 2: DiagnoseIs it worth solving? -- Risk Map, Problem Proof, Alternatives Scan
EStage 3: EarnWill anyone pay? -- Offer Test, Price Check, Channel Probe
AStage 4: AssessDo they come back? -- MVP Sprint, Fit Signals, Fit Fixes
LStage 5: LockShould I go all in? -- Decision Gate, Founder Fit, Momentum OS

After the five stages, two extensions cover Positioning and Edge and Momentum Loops. The playbook ends with a 30-Day Proof Plan you can run immediately.

How Each Stage Works

The cadence

Every stage follows the same rhythm: read the stage opening, complete three modules with specific exercises, review your evidence, and decide whether to advance, tighten, or reset.

Each stage uses a different format to keep the learning fresh -- workshop, myth-bust, story-to-framework, field manual, and letter. You are not asked to do everything at once. You are asked to earn the next stage before you move forward.
